Our Mission
Our main mission is to make disciples of Jesus Christ by evangelism at home and abroad. We encourage our members to be active witnesses for Jesus Christ while supporting the missions program of the church according to their ability
Beliefs and Practices
Southside is independent of all other entities
Not a part of any other denomination. It fellowships with all churches of like faith and practice. Is committed to the fundamentals of the faith understood as belief in the Deity of Christ, the verbal inspiration of the Scriptures with a historical grammatical interpretation of the Bible. Local New Testament churches are the visible Body of Christ in the world. The local church is led by pastor/teachers (elders) and assisted by the deacons. The government of the church is congregational with all members eighteen and over having one vote. All decisions must be in accordance with the Scriptures and the by-laws of the Constitution of the church. No one remains a member if after one year they do not attend regularly. Unless prohibited by health, military or other unseen circumstance. We believe in the Triune nature of the Godhead. Father, Son and Spirit, equal in essence yet different in function. We accept the Bible as the final authority in all matters of faith and practice. If the Bible forbids it we do not practice it. We believe that salvation is through faith in the Person and work of Jesus Christ. That one’s personal salvation is not dependent on baptism or church membership though both are important in the life of the follower of Jesus Christ. Membership in the local New Testament Church is conditioned upon one’s personal faith in Jesus Christ, baptism by immersion of a Baptist Church or one of like faith and practice. We believe the gifts of tongues, healings and prophecy ceased after the last Apostle died and the books of the New Testament were completed. We believe in the literal, Bodily Resurrection of Jesus Christ after His Death on the Cross and in His literal return to the earth at an appointed time determined by God the Father. The literal return of Jesus Christ to the earth is preceded by the Rapture of the Church of Jesus Christ to be followed by a seven year Tribulation on the earth as God works to draw the nation of Israel to Jesus Christ which is followed by Christ’s return in glory followed by a one thousand year reign of Jesus Christ upon the earth. These events will be followed by a final judgment for non-believers in both dead and alive.
History & Philosophy of Ministry
Southside begin in 1974 in Inver Grove Heights with several families endeavoring to establish a local Baptist Church outreaching to the community while not compromising Bible doctrine or it’s freedom to follow Jesus Christ in daily life.
The facilities
Southside are used only by members of the church and their families for the purpose of promoting the gospel of Christ and strengthening families. Weddings, funerals and other gatherings are allowed on a request basis but all activities must be consistent with the church’s values and policies. No group may use the church that is not in agreement with our values, doctrinal position and standards of conduct.
